MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Junior guard Devoe Joseph has decided to transfer from the University of Minnesota after being suspended for the second time of the season, announced University officials and head coach Tubby Smith on Wednesday.

“We are disappointed that Devoe has decided to leave the University of Minnesota,” said Smith. “He was a big part of this team and will always be a member of the Gopher Basketball family. We wish him the best of luck.”

Joseph was averaging 11.3 points and 3.5 assists for the Golden Gophers.

Minnesota lost its first two Big Ten games, at Wisconsin and Michigan State, last week to fall out of the Top 25.

Don’t let the door hit you in the backside, Devoe!!!!!

Maybe we should run background checks and check police reports before we offer scholarships at the u of m?

Devoe, you are a stupid idiot. You get a great opportunity and you messed it up. You are a loser and trash of our society. You think you deserve more privileges and breaks than others because you play basketball. You are a stupid thug. Good luck elsewhere – you cannot even pass 7th grade math you stupid moron. You’ll end up leaving the next place you go to as well.

What a sack of worthless garbage he turned out to be–good by and good riddence———-looser

Tubby recruits as well as Brewster…Maybe Tubby should be shown the door? Just Saying…..

    • Troy

      No! No way

  • David

It is sad to see opportunities thrown away in our youth, hoping he thinks he made the right decision when he is 40.

Only good comment her, nice one.

Tubby is a Great person…So please do not bash him..like Brester come on you never watched a game of baskeball Little different..Tubby has taken us to the NCAA a few times..Brewster took us where…stop blaming the coach for kids that screw up…they can not control them 24/7

For all of you that think Tubby should be fired, you should all go get your heads examined seriously. Tubby is the best thing that has happend to the U of M in a long long time. He has made this program competitve against anybody they suit up against in the country and that is all because of him. So stop saying he should be fired or let go because that is completely foolish to think that.

I would be just as happy to be 8-10 with an all midwest area team, instead of trying to be something with a bunch of young hoolagans. We recruit a bunch of thugs and win one or two more games a year and possibly go to the dance. The NIT wouldnt be so bad if we had a better group of young men. Same with the football team. Maybe they would care enough to go to practice.

Overrated underachiever gone and so a good kid who has a head on his shoulders gets a free ride! What’s not to like! The kind of move a decent program has to make.Tubby can get max performance out of a good kid, some kids just can’t understand the OPPORTUNITY that they are throwing away.My guess and yours is that Joeseph will never see an NBA paycheck and will never be heard from again.

Wisdom is lost on youth. The ONLY alternative is to let him go, otherwise he becomes a cancer on the team. He was an early recruit that Tubby took a chance on and it didn’t pay off. His recruiting classes will only get better.
