Theater Kids Converge On Guthrie For Crash Course

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Hundreds of young aspiring actors and other theater students are converging on the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis for a crash course in putting on a play.

More than 400 students from schools all over Minnesota are Saturday expected for the Minnesota State Thespian Festival. It's a day of continuous activity that includes workshops in acting, movement, stage management, technical theater and more. Students interested in technical aspects of theater production will also get hands-on learning opportunities.

One-act plays put on by students will be performed throughout the day on the Guthrie's thrust stage.

The event is sponsored by the International Thespian Society, which bills itself as the world's largest honor society for theater arts students.
