Crews Battle Large House Fire In Hugo

HUGO, Minn. (WCCO) -- Firefighters in Hugo battled a large house fire Sunday evening, which forced them to bring in additional water to fight the blaze.

Washington County dispatch received a call shortly before 7 p.m. of a fire on the 8700 block of 136th Street North.

Crews had to truck in water because there were no fire hydrants in the vicinity.

The fire destroyed the home and killed the family's two pets -- a cat and dog. Roughly 75 firefighters were called in to help control the blaze because of the intensity of the flames.

The homeowners weren't home at the time of the fire.

Authorities are investigating what caused the fire and the fire marshal should be at the scene Monday morning. No other injuries have been reported.
