MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Devoe Joseph is intent on transferring to Oregon but the truth is with grades due out Jan. 18 he probably would not have been academically eligible to play basketball at the University of Minnesota.

Gopher transfer Royce White, who is sitting out at Iowa State, posted one of the team’s best GPAs in his first semester as a Cyclone.

New head coach Jerry Kill has a daunting task of recruiting for the Golden Gopher football team because of the limit that you can bring in during one given year. They will not get to 85 scholarships, the maximum allowed. That will put a premium on walk-ons and that has become more difficult over the years with four Division I programs in North Dakota and South Dakota.

This year’s annual high school all-star football game will be held at TCF Bank Stadium.

The Gopher baseball team could end up playing its DQ Classic in Florida with the Metrodome down.

Former Gopher basketball player Ben Coleman is working as an assistant coach at Columbia Heights High School.
