Backstrom, Theodore Hurt, Wild To Start Khudobin

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Wild are hurting in the net.

Rookie goalie Anton Khudobin has been named the starter for Friday's game against Colorado, with Niklas Backstrom and Jose Theodore each out with lower-body injuries. Another rookie goalie, Matt Hackett, was recalled from the Wild's AHL affiliate in Houston to back up.

Backstrom has missed the last six games. Coach Todd Richards said Backstrom skated in the morning and could be ready to return when the Wild play at Edmonton Tuesday. Richards said he wasn't sure if Theodore would be able to play Sunday against Vancouver.

Khudobin played well in a two-game stint with the Wild last season, giving up only one goal. Another Wild goalie, Josh Harding, is out for the season with a knee injury suffered in September.
