DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Justin Fontaine and Mike Connolly had a goal and assist each to lead Minnesota-Duluth to a 2-0 win over Wisconsin Friday.
Both Bulldog goals came on the power play and briefly derailed the Badgers, who came into the game having won seven straight games and gone 8-1-1 since being swept at home by UMD in November.
The fifth-ranked Bulldogs (15-4-3, 10-3-2) scored both goals in the first 16:43 of the game. Connolly assisted on Fontaine’s goal at 13:17 and Fontaine assisted on Connolly’s at 16:43. David Grun assisted on both goals.
UMD goalie Kenny Reiter outdueled Wisconsin’s Scott Gudmandson. Reiter made 22 saves, just five in the third period.
Gudmandson had 25 saves for the Badgers (14-8-3, 6-7-2).
