200 Dead Cows Found In Wisconsin Field

TOWN OF STOCKTON, Wis. (AP) — An investigation is under way after 200 dead cows were found in a field in the Town of Stockton.

The Portage County sheriff’s office says the owner of the cattle has been working with a local veterinarian and it’s believed the animals died from the IBR/BVD virus. The virus can cause respiratory and reproductive problems.

WSAW reports samples from the dead cows have been sent to Madison for testing.

Authorities say there is no threat to humans or other animals.

  • Patrick Shull

Birds, Fish, and now cows? Wow, mass deaths are moving up in the chain of life. Isn’t life grand?

  • Jeff

Its not funny. Those 200 cows are worth more than what most people make in 5-7 years.

  • Tom

I agree some people are so dumb.

this is like the plaques in the Old Testment and I do believe we have very little time left as we know it.. God is saying get prepared…..Famine will be next…Store up like our grandmothers did…food storages are coming! Maranatha!

    • mwern

That is ridicules & I’m so tired of all of the paranoia surrending this issue! We could all die tomorrow & think about what you miss out on today fretting over this!!

      • Val

It’s not ridiculous at all… and I’m thinking that the powers that be are banking on people brushing this off just like you have. I understand that as soon as someone mentions God, testaments, and prophecy that people start putting a wall up… but besides what one believes, there are some major players behind closed doors and they are messing with things that the little people (sheeple) can’t even begin to fathom.

hmmmm, im not sure earthquakes can kill birds or cows. however the polarities on earth are up for a change which would contribute to all of teh LOW earthquake activity, but i find the sun much more dangerous. check this out, it almost lines up to a ‘T’ w/ the recent animal deaths. recent: http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/alerts/archive/archive_01Jan2011.html + http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/alerts/archive/archive_16Dec2010.html . tester: http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/SWN/index.html

Very expensive loss, too bad for the animals too, as a farmer I know this can be an emotional loss as well.

  • Rick

    Was their diet GMO oriented?

  • Tonya

What does this mean for the price of beef?

    • Jorgan

Nothing. They were COWS (as in milk..) not steers.

  • me

You comment is not needed! That a families livliehood. Have some consideration. This is the equivalent of say you loosing job and not knowing where your next pay check is coming from.

    • mike

insurance I am sure he has it if he does not then its very funny

  • Leona

It always makes me sick when I hear of animals dying tragically but I was glad to hear it wasn’t contagious or someone leaving their animals to starve as has been the case in some instances in the past.

200 cows die at THE SAME TIME from a VIRUS? *rolls eyes* Srsly? What, they all happened 2 contract the virus at the same time n die in unison? Pls. Something bigger than that is going on. They blame the net 4 word spreading like fire, net has been commonplace since ’96, y haven’t we been panicked b4 by “common phenomena”. Spare me

  • monteinjax

Everyone is hyping about the cost of these cows.
Stop and think. The main priority should be WHY have they died.

  • PHIL

Time to tackle the feed supplier if it can be proven!

  • doubter

They all died in one day, from a virus? doubt it. HAARP http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fpresscore.ca%2F2011%2F%3Fp%3D846&h=1a27a

i see the wordabout HAARP is spreading…www.infowars.com

  • RIII

Dead birds, fish and cows OH MY!!

  • Kevin

It’s Palin’s fault for sure. No doubts. She doesn’t like cows because they’re too liberal.

  • Gimp

just imagine how many more cows would’ve died had the Packers lost yesterday

  • down the road

The “cows” that are mentioned, are really Steers, beef cows. I live about 5 miles down the road from were this happened. me and a friend happened to be driving past there yesterday after noon and we saw the semi loads of dead Steers. I have to say i don’t really know that to think of it all. I was doing some research earlier that it mite be as simple as cross contamination in his feed mix, some thing such as as a dead cat that mite have been picked up by a baler. this farmer has been having to get lots of hay brought it, from out side sources because he had 2000 large square bales burn up in a barn fire recently.

  • Common Sense up North

Tragic either way. Then you get these scmucks talking foolish in here doesn’t help any. The family has had enough, have some comassion.

  • Julie

Did anybody noticed that the grass in that picture is very green and is winter there right now…. possibly with snow on the ground ?????

    • Thea King

Yes, and there is snow everywhere. There is also more snow to come.

  • tom

Everyone needs to settle down a bit …
I feel for the farmer who lost the cows and
all the money he’s out . I hope they find out
what killed them and can stop it …
