Gophers Get Back In AP Poll At No. 15

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota men's basketball team has surged back into the national rankings.

The Gophers landed at No. 15 in the latest Associated Press poll released Monday. They were left out of each of the last two weekly AP polls, after back-to-back road losses to Wisconsin and Michigan State on Dec. 28 and Dec. 31 pushed them out. They were ranked 14th that week of Dec. 27.

But the Gophers jumped back in with a big win last Thursday over No. 8 Purdue, which fell to No. 14 this week. Minnesota also beat Iowa Sunday and improved to 14-4 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten.

The Gophers next play at Michigan Saturday.
