Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Biting Husband’s Tongue

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin woman accused of biting off part of her husband’s tongue has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Fifty-seven-year-old Karen Lueders waived her right to a preliminary hearing in Sheboygan County Circuit Court Wednesday.

Lueders’ attorney says his client had a mental lapse last month when she injured her husband, but is doing much better. Lueders is charged with felony mayhem, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

The Sheboygan Press reports Judge Edward Stengel modified Lueders’ bond to allow her to once again live with her husband.
