Minn. House Vs. Senate In 'Biggest Loser' Contest

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Politicians normally don't want to be known as losers. But for Minnesota lawmakers, that title will be a badge of honor.

Leaders of the Minnesota House and Senate on Monday will announce a "Biggest Loser Minnesota Challenge" pitting each chamber against the other.

The statewide weight-loss challenge is aimed at getting Minnesotans to eat and live healthier. Participants earn points for losing extra pounds, exercising and eating nutritious foods.

A group of Minnesota companies known as the Alliance for a Healthier Minnesota is offering the Minnesota Challenge. It runs from January through April 2010.

Besides legislative leaders, Monday's announcement also will feature O'Neal Hampton and Jesse Atkins, former contestants on "The Biggest Loser."
