MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have asked slugger Justin Morneau to skip the team’s annual fan festival this weekend so he can keep concentrating on his recovery from a concussion.

General manager Bill Smith says he told Morneau it would be better for him to continue working out in Phoenix and preparing for spring training.

Smith says Morneau has been working out hard, but is still a week to 10 days away from starting any baseball activities such as swinging a bat. Smith wants Morneau to stay on track with his workouts rather than miss time by traveling to Minnesota for TwinsFest.

Smith called it a difficult decision because it’s such an important event to the organization. Morneau missed the last three months of last season because of the concussion.

How and why is Morneau still suffering from his concusion. Desean Jackson aslmost got decapitated…and he was back in two weeks!!!! So why is Morneau out for the better part of a year now!!! Did anyone see his “injury”….it was weak..barely anything. So why are professional football players so much tougher than baseball? If pro football players sat out 7months after taking similar hits like Morneau…there would be no one left in the league!!!

Are you a Dr???? I didn’ t think so. Keep your injury report to yourself. Get well soon, Justin!!!!!

Hey genius….it WAS A QUESTION. Are you an intelligent human??? Didnt think so. Why is it guys like Desean come back in two weeks and Justin takes a bump and he is out 7 months? I dont know…thats why i asked. So perhaps, if you could learn to read before opening your yap…that would be much appreciated.

I was actually thinking the same thing. Good grief he could have recovered from brain surgery by now.

Seriously football players take shots to the head everyday and play on or only are out a couple of weeks. No way his concussion was from a hit as hard as some I have seen in the NFL.

I think justin’s injury is bigger than the Twins are letting on and what assurances for him in the future should he be hit again perhaps his safety is not assured.

When you have as many concussions as he does it takes longer to heal and they also dont want to rush him back, you can only have so many concussions before your career is over. The Twins are doing a good job by letting him take his time wo dont want him to end up like Corey Koskie his career ended because of a concussion. they are alot more serious than people think
