Crime Notes: Being A Victim Of Business Robberies

By Caroline Lowe, WCCO-TV

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There has been a string of armed robberies in the metro area in recent weeks at local businesses, including one Jan. 22 at 35th and Chicago.

If you are the victim of a stick up, police have several tips to stay safe and help catch the robber. The most important thing is to fully cooperate with the demands of gunman to turn over cash.

Once the robber leaves, call 911 immediately and don't try to follow him. (Interestingly, cops say robbers often use the closest freeway to get away.)

Businesses should have good, working cameras that are pointed in the best direction to get a face shot of the criminal. Too often, the cameras capture tops of heads which don't help identify the robber.
