Fahey Pleads Guilty To Abducting, Assaulting Girl

OLIVIA, Minn. (AP) -- A 25-year-old man has pleaded guilty to abducting and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl delivering newspapers in Fairfax last May.

Matthew Fahey pleaded guilty Tuesday to kidnapping, criminal sexual predatory conduct and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. A second count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct was dismissed.

Fahey entered his plea on the second day of his trial. A judge was hearing the case without a jury.

Authorities say Fahey threatened to shoot the girl while she was delivering papers, then dragged her into his car, drove her to a cemetery and sexually assaulted her before she escaped.

The West Central Tribune reports the judge has 90 days to decide whether "aggravating factors" were committed.

Fahey originally was from Fairfax but was living in Marshall. He remains in jail.
