DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — A police officer has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested in Carlton County for allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face.

The accused officer is longtime member of the Superior Police Department in Wisconsin. Duluth police say the sergeant was arrested Sunday after the 32-year-old woman told authorities her boyfriend struck her while they were traveling on Interstate 35 between Cloquet and Scanion. The Duluth News Tribune says the woman got out of the vehicle after being assaulted and took a ride with a passing motorist.

Formal charges against the officer are pending.

Hopefully the officer will be treated just like everyone else and charged like anyone else. Sad part is felony he can keep his job, a misdemeanor and he won’t be able to have a firearm or keep his job, hunt, or even enlist in the Army for the matter.

The police are never held to the same standards as citizens. It’s just a good old boy system….. What is the difference between the cops and the bad guys…..a badge…..

  2. Edn says:

There now. Didn’t that feel good taking your frustrations out on someone who did not have it coming? Idiot!!! As punishment, you should get a billy club upside your face.

  3. markH says:

What did this woman do to provoke this man? He shouldn’t have punched her, but the Bible tells us that women should be subservient to men in all things, so he had the right to discipline her as he saw fit. It would be worse for her if her husband had to answer to Jesus that she was disobidient and wasn’t properly admonished for her behavior.

    1. Todd says:

You have got to be kidding? The bible has nothing to do with society, it is made up fiction with some facts and a lot of BS.

    2. Edn says:

that would be for husbands and wives. Wives to submit to the husbands as husbands submit to God.

    3. Nancy says:

Are you kidding me MarkH? Hopefully there’s no Mrs MarkH.. would feel so sorry for her… You are out there buddy….

  4. TWeber says:

@MarkH… What rock did you crawl out from? wow…

    1. Edn says:

      Wondered the same thing.

  5. H.E. says:

First off, violence of any sort is not the answer to any situation. Second, I don’t know what bible you are reading or to which passage you are referring, but the Christ I was taught about was loving, accepting, and treated people according to there actions, not there race, gender, or social standing. Women are not the family dog. They have the same thoughts and feelings as a man. I feel sorry for anyone who has to come in contact with you. I hope the god you talk about is more forgiving then you.

    1. Ed says:

HA, tell that to your God. Tick him off and he tries to wipe out the whole human race!
Didn’t your bible say something about a flood? Thats not violent?

      1. H.E. says:

I was talking about Christ not God when I mentioned violence. Also, as I recall the bible says something about being saved from the flood if you could change your ways and not act like a complete moron. I may be phrasing that in my own words. Also, this is a story of a legend, myth therefore should be view with interest not absolution. Also, I don’t think the my God was so much ticked off as disappointed.

      2. Ed says:

So the bible is little more than a book of myths and legends,
And moses, his kin and some animals were the only non-morons at the time,
And you think MarkH is bad for following the words of the bible?
Maybe you two have different versions of the bible, they did re-write them ya know when man didn’t like the rules.

      3. H.E. says:

Yes the bible is filled with many legends and myths, told to heip people learn from them. As for Moses, his kin, and some animals being the only non-morons, I was not around when this story took place, but I have seen some scientific evidence that would suggest others survived. I don’t think MarkH is bad, only some of his reasoning. It is quite possible I have a different version of the bible, there are many widely available. One of the most popular “King James version” was definitely originally written and published with a political agenda. I also can agree to disagree, as long as what I am agreeing to is not harmful to other physically, mentally, or emotionally.

  6. jim says:

He can only legaly hit her if she is his wife. If its his girlfriend he can only verbaly abuse her.

  7. Brent says:

Give the guy a break! I know how he feels, sometimes her nagging and complaining just get to be too much. Hopefully he doesn’t have to be home with her on his new time off.

    1. Harvey says:

Yeah, with the law the way it is it encourages women to keep testing the limits of limitless nagging without expecting any blowback whatsoever…the men are just expected to take it and take it…imho SOME women have similar mindset to juveniles feeling free they can break laws right and left, and turn 18 with a clean slate. Hey if this incident amuses everyone, wait till the gays get on submarines and start fighting over boyfriends and then want to nuke the world to get boyfriend revenge like the Army wikileaks Private so skillfully accomplished. I wonder also how many straights in the military are going to want to do some punching of their own when they keep getting unwanted advances from their fellow bunkmaties?

  8. Edn says:

two words, pal. WALK AWAY. Works. You don’t need to get physical about things. Walk away. Period.

    1. jim says:

Eda, he cant walk away, they were driving. So he punched her and threw her out, what else could he do? She was obviously in the wrong.

      1. HolyRoller says:

The good news is he only had to tell her once or she would of had 2 black eyes.

      2. Bob says:

No the good news is she decided to walk away and not continue the violence or he may have had more wrong with him then just a black eye or two.

  9. insignificant says:

thats assault…loss of all firearms and job…people in law enforcement need double penalty for anything against the law…wonder how his record is in arrests of citizens…he didn’t slap her,but punched…yikes…and anyone wants this temper out serving?…most unlikely

  10. Thats why I am single says:

Hey…Im not saying…Im just saying…..when he asked for his beer……she needed to be just a bit faster on her feet….it is Wisconsin dont ya know..

  11. Victim Du Jour says:

This woman has every right not to date men who hit her.

Corny Woman problems are bankrupting the state.

    1. True says:

I hope she will do that from now on.

      1. Victim Du Jour says:

She could be lying about being punched too.

That happened to a ST Paul Police Officer, and his girlfriend admitted to lying about it.

Cops have the right to be human beings when they are off duty.

  12. Victim Du Jour says:

Basically all this does is makes police officers lonely, it’s bad enough for them, and then they have to always think twice or even three times before forming a relationship outside work.
