Commissioners In Florida Could Expand Twins Training Complex

By Edgar Linares, NewsRadio 830 WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Commissioners in Lee County voted on Tuesday to purchase 14.2 acres of land to expand the Twins Spring Training complex.

According to MLB.com the land was purchased for $4.8 million. The Twin's say they need the land for their spring training and minor league practice.

Exactly how the land will be used has not been determined. But talk of expanding the seating to fit 2,000 more fans is on the table.

The land is adjacent to Hammond Stadium where the Twins play their spring training games and should allow the Twins a chance to upgrade the facility that's been used since 1991.
