Congresswoman Bachmann Talks SOTU On WCCO Radio

By Edgar Linares, NewsRadio 830 WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann told WCCO's John Williams, "It's always and honor and a privilege to listen to a president, no matter which party, deliver an address to the congress and the nation."

On Tuesday night Bachmann gave the Tea Party's first-ever rebuttal after President Barack Obama's State of the Union address. She blasted President Obama on what she called an "unprecedented explosion of government spending and debt."

On Wednesday, she continued to drive home that point.

"The deficit will be the worst in the country this year. We're looking at about $1.5 trillion in deficit, in addition to what we're already spending," Bachmann said.

Bachmann said to fix the problem she would cease the increases in spending and put the budgets back to the levels of 2006.

"We've been borrowing money up until this point from China and from Japan, but that borrowing can not continue," said Bachmann.
