Head Of Minneapolis FBI To Transfer To Washington
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The special agent in charge of the FBI office in Minneapolis is being transferred to Washington to work as the deputy assistant director for the agency's Counterterrorism Division.
Ralph Boelter announced his upcoming transfer Friday in an e-mail to members of the FBI Citizens' Academy. He says he'll remain in Minnesota for several more weeks.
Boelter says the move is an exciting opportunity "given the continued seriousness and evolving nature of the threat."
Boelter has been head of the FBI's Minneapolis division, which covers Minnesota and the Dakotas, since 2007.
In recent years he's overseen many high profile cases, including the investigation into the travels of roughly 20 young men who left Minnesota to possibly fight with the terror group al-Shabab in Somalia. That investigation is ongoing.
