ST. PAUL (WCCO) – There was chilling competition this weekend at the 2011 St. Paul Winter Carnival Snow Sculpting Competition at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

The judges looked at each sculpture and weighed degree of difficulty, execution (clean lines, proportions and overall completion) and artistic expression to pick this year’s winners. And here they are:

First Place and Artist’s Choice Award Winner: “Hot Tub Time Machine” by Dusty Thune, Dave Thune and Chelsea Olson — all of Saint Paul. First place receives $1,000 cash and qualification to compete in the National Snow Sculpting Competition next year in Lake Geneva, Wis.
