Basketball Fans Donate $700 for Minn. Prep Player

MORRIS, Minn. (AP) -- Fans attending a college basketball game have donated $700 to support a western Minnesota high school player who collapsed during a game.

The money was raised when the Minnesota-Morris men's and women's teams hosted St. Scholastica on Saturday. Minnesota-Morris women's coach Tim Grove spoke about 17-year-old Zach Gabbard of Perham at halftime of the men's game.

In response, $700 was raised to help Gabbard's family.

Perham boys' basketball coach Dave Cresap offered his thanks. Cresap is the father of Minnesota-Morris women's basketball senior Brandi Cresap.

Gabbard collapsed on the court during a game in Glyndon on Jan. 20. He remains in critical but stable condition at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.
