Fire Destroys NW Minn. Garbage Hauler

Mcintosh, Minn. (AP) -- Fire has destroyed the garbage hauler for several rural towns in northwestern Minnesota's Polk County.

The fire broke out Sunday at Lindseth Garbage Service in McIntosh.

Kelly Lindseth, who owns and operates the business with his wife, says the blaze destroyed the shop and all four trucks inside, and caused at least $400,000 in damage.

Lindseth says the couple has "no idea right now" how the business will start picking up garbage again across Polk County.

McIntosh Fire Chief Toby Strom tells the Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald about 25 firefighters were on the scene, including departments from Erskine and Fosston.

Strom says authorities don't know the cause, except that it wasn't the oil-burner furnace. No one was at the business when the fire started, and no one was hurt.
