Abby's Hope Helps Keep Kids Safe

HOPKINS, Minn. (WCCO) -- The legacy of a Twin Cities girl who died after sitting on a pool drain stayed alive on Sunday.

Bowlers in Hopkins donated swimsuits to Abby's Hope, in honor of Abigail Taylor.

Abby's Hope started after Abigail had part of her intestinal tract damaged by suction from a pool drain more than three years ago.

She died from her injuries.

"Through her journey after the incident, and as she stays with us now, she really wanted to help us, to help other kids keep each other safe and do what we can to help others and so we just keep on doing what we can to keep her legacy alive," said Katey Taylor, Abigail's mother.

The foundation works to safeguard children in and out of the pool. It sponsors many different events throughout the year.

At Sunday's event, anyone who brought a swimsuit bowled for free and the suits will be given to the YMCA in North Minneapolis.
