Mom Whose Child Drove SUV Into Store Is Sentenced

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A St. Paul woman has been sentenced for leaving her 3-year-old in a sport utility vehicle that the child then ran into a storefront.

Twenty-three-year-old Chelscia English was sentenced Tuesday to two years probation and time served.

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Judge William Leary told English that he hoped she would think about how much danger she had put her child in -- and she said she had.

English pleaded guilty to child endangerment and has served three days in jail.

The complaint says English pulled her SUV into a handicapped space in front of a grocery store last October. The child crawled out of the back seat to the front and put the vehicle into drive. The SUV crashed through the front of a hair salon.
