Foreclosure Sales Increase 11 Percent In Minn.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A new report says foreclosure sales in Minnesota increased 11 percent in 2010.

The Minnesota Home Ownership Center says there were nearly 25,700 foreclosures last year compared to about 23,000 foreclosure sales in 2009. The report analyzed sheriff's sale data from every county in Minnesota.

The center's executive director, Julie Gugin, says even though the number of foreclosures sales slowed during the fourth quarter, the number of families losing their home in 2010 was still four to five times higher than the level before the start of the housing crisis.
