Fatal Accident In Spring Valley Saturday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol said icy roads may have played a part in a fatal accident that happened on Saturday morning just south of Spring Valley, Minn.

Officers said a Buick Century and an Oldsmobile Regency were both heading southbound on Highway 63. Another car made a left-hand turn ahead of them and the Buick clipped the Oldsmobile and then crossed over the centerline into the northbound lane.

It was hit by a Minnesota Department of Transportation plow and both vehicles went into the east ditch and the car rolled.

Officers said four people and three vehicles were involved in the accident.  They reported that roads were icy at the time.

The State Patrol has not released the names of those involved or how many people were killed in the accident. They plan to release more information Saturday evening.
