Minn. Man Gets Kidney From Fiancee
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) -- A Minnesota man will get a Valentine's Day gift that you can't put a price on.
Ron Spanier of Lake Henry and fiancee Amy Anderson of Sartell are spending Tuesday at University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview where they're preparing for Anderson to donate a kidney to Spanier.
He's been on dialysis since last summer because of a disease that caused cysts in his kidneys. The two have a three-month-old son. Spanier jokes that since Anderson gave him his first-born and a kidney, he figured he'd marry her.
Anderson tells the St. Cloud Times she understands the stress of medical problems. Her first husband died of a stroke three years ago. Anderson has two other children from that marriage, 10-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son.
