Man Pleads Guilty To DNR 'Wall Of Shame' Theft
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to stealing more than 20 mounted animals and other items from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Timothy Heidenreich, 41, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in the burglary of different items from the DNR's poachers display called the "Wall of Shame."
According to the criminal complaints, Heidenreich is one of three men that broke into the DNR building in January and stole $40,000 worth of property, including outboard motors, power tools, computers and animal mounts.
Heidenreich ended up in police custody on other charges. And police recovered the stolen property after he called one of the other men while in jail and warned him to sell the power tools and computers, and the "stuff" that was in a van.
Police were able to recover the missing mounts and property with a search warrant.
Heidenreich was charged with the theft, as was Terry Kendale Cotton, 27, and Shane James Rylander, 29, both of St. Paul. They were charged with one felony count of possession of stolen property.
Heidenreich sentencing is set for April 7.
