St. Cloud Student Struck, Injured By School Bus

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — St. Cloud police say a school bus making a right turn struck and injured a 10-year-old boy.

Police say the boy had missed the bus and was running after it when he was hit about 8 a.m. Thursday.

KNSI-AM reports the boy is a fifth-grade student at Madison Elementary School. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the 74-year-old bus driver was not aware that the boy had been hit. No children on the bus were hurt.

St. Cloud police are investigating with help from the Minnesota State Patrol.

74 year old bus driver? I think after a certain age you should no longer be able to drive.

Why would they ever hire a 74 year old in the first place?

Why WOULDN’T they hire a 74 yr old? If he/she meets the requirements and is a good driver, then there’s no reason NOT to hire them. My dad is in his 70’s and drives a semi – he is FAR more reliable than the younger drivers who often don’t show up for work or don’t service their vehicles properly. Age alone does not determine the ability of someone to do a good job.
