No Discipline For ND Deputy Sheriff In Gun Case
FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- A deputy sheriff in North Dakota who owns a gun that might have been used in an armed robbery in Minnesota will not face discipline.
The gun allegedly was stolen from a locked safe, and Cass County Capt. Rick Majerus says the gun was not Sgt. Duane Nitschke's service weapon.
The Forum newspaper reports that court documents indicate a Fargo man charged in an armed robbery at a convenience store in neighboring Moorhead, Minn., on Feb. 10 is suspected of stealing the .38-caliber pistol. The documents say the suspect was friends with one of Nitschke's stepsons.
The gun is mentioned in the robbery complaint but it's not clear if authorities believe it was used in the robbery.
Nitschke declined comment.
