March’s Veteran Of The Month: Chris Hagen
Chris Hagen grew up in Bloomington, MN where he went to Kennedy Senior High school in 2004. After High School, Hagen joined the Marines and went to boot camp at Camp Pendleton in California the fall of 2004. He stayed at Camp Pendleton and went to infantry school and light armored vehicle Crewman’s School.
In the summer of 2005 I was stationed at 29 Palms Ca with Third Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. He was then deployed to Iraq the summer of 2006, and again the winter of 2007 to 2008. There they conducted foot and vehicle mounted patrols, route clearing, observation post positions, un-exploded ordnance disposal, detainee handling, raids, quick response force, and EOD and VIP escorts.
Hagen was awarded the “Achievement Award” from the Marine Core for Superior performance of duties while responding to a suicide vehicle blast in Iraq. Hagen was honorably discharged in 2008 as a Corporal, awarded with the good conduct medal, Navy Achievement Medal and the Combat action ribbon. He now lives in Bloomington, working full time in security in the West metro and attends school full time for Electronics Engineering. After his Electronics Degree, he will pursue another degree in HVAC.
