The Good Life For Less: Free Stuff For Students

By Alison Lorge, WCCO

Every college students feels the pinch in their wallet when they're trying to find the balance between paying for school and paying for their 'gourmet' ramen noodle dinner. Here are a couple of deals that will help students save a little bit more. (Note: You need a valid student ID or .edu email address to cash in on most of these deals.)

• I've talked about the free student membership at Amazon before and now you have a chance to sign up for it again. Basically, all college students can get free 2-day shipping from Amazon with no minimum purchase. Learn more about it here. If you already have a membership, cancel it and sign up again to get one more year free.

The Body Shop is giving a 10-percent discount to students who sign up for their 'Love Your Body' membership. It's free and they will also send you coupons for further purchases (like $5 off purchases with a student ID or by using coupon code SCHOLAR for online purchases).

• The website StudentRate.com is a great one for finding student discounts nationally and locally. You'll find deals like $5 off your $50 purchase at Target.com, $15 off a $100 purchase at Macys.com, and 10 percent off CASIO Cameras. They offer many deals by clicking through the links on their site, so you will need to make purchases through those links by registering for a free account with them. I suggest using your junk-email account. They offer cash-back rebates for some purchases made on the site too.

What could be smarter than saving money on things you're buying anyway? Remember, if you know of any other student discount deals, share them with other 'Good Lifers' in the comment section.
