Paul Leads Off Busy Day In Iowa Caucus Politics

PELLA, Iowa (AP) -- Texas Rep. Ron Paul is leading off a busy day in Iowa for Republicans mulling presidential campaigns.

Paul, who sought the GOP nomination in 2008, was speaking Monday at events in Sioux Center, Pella and Iowa City sponsored by The Family Leader. He argued that people must take more responsibility for their lives.

Later Monday, the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition will host a forum in Waukee that has attracted potential candidates including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, businessman Herman Cain, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer.

Also Monday, a top aide to billionaire real estate developer Donald Trump flew to Des Moines. Aide Michael Cohen planned to meet with key Republican officials, including Iowa Republican Chairman Matt Strawn.
