Alcohol Suspected In Fatal Snowmobile Crash

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- Authorities suspect a snowmobiler who died as a result of injuries suffered in a crash in northeastern Minnesota was drinking.

Forty-one-year-old Michael Hendrickson of Grand Portage died Wednesday at St. Mary's in Duluth after suffering a lacerated liver, torn aorta and eight broken ribs in a Feb. 26 crash on the Gunflint Trail. Hendrickson slammed his snowmobile into a tree. The Duluth News Tribune says a passenger, Jacquelyn Jackson of Grand Portage, suffered a broken leg.

Records show Hendrickson has three drunken driving convictions.
