Twins Send Prospect Gibson To Minor League Camp
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins have reduced their spring training roster by 14 players, optioning seven players to minor-league teams and reassigning seven others to minor-league camp -- including right-handed pitcher Kyle Gibson.
Gibson was Minnesota's first-round draft pick in 2009 and a top prospect for the rotation. He was the organization's minor league pitcher of the year in 2010. Gibson had a 4.91 ERA in three spring appearances.
Right-handed pitcher Deolis Guerra and outfielder Joe Benson were among the players optioned to Double-A New Britain. Guerra is the last remaining player acquired in the Johan Santana trade, and Benson was the organization's minor league player of the year in 2010.
The Twins now have 45 players in camp.
