MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The only thing keeping U of M basketball coach Tubby Smith from signing an extension is the semantics of getting all the paper work. The terms have been agreed to, although that doesn’t mean other teams won’t keep calling.

U of M hockey coach Don Lucia has been assured he will be back next season. Look for him to get an extension of some sort.
——-
Kyle Rau scored the game-winning state championship goal for Eden Prairie on Saturday. He graduated from High School this week and will play for the Sioux Falls Stampede, part of the USHL, this weekend.
——-
The next concern for an early defection to pro-hockey for the Gophers is Nick Bjugstad, but right now it looks like he will return.
——-
Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis has not been assured he will be back next year. Owner Glen Taylor is non-committal but watching close.
——-
Blake Hoffarber, guard on the U of M basketball team, got an invitation to go to the NBA’s Portsmouth Camp for college prospects.
——-
Harvard head coach Tommy Amaker has been out to watch Hopkins High School point guard, Siyani Chambers, four times this season.
——-
Who might benefit from the NFL work stoppage? How about the Canadian Football League, where Minnesota native Marc Trestman has won the last two Grey Cups as coach of Montreal Alouettes.
