Father, Son Die In Head-On Collision In Dakota County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two people are dead after a head-on crash involving a semi and a 1993 Toyota Corolla, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities say the crash occurred around noon at Highway 56 and 284th in Dakota County. The State Patrol says the car swerved into the opposite lane and hit the semi, head-on. The car's passengers, a 53-year-old father and 18-year-old son, died on impact. The driver of the semi was not injured.

The son was driving the car, according to the State Patrol.

Highway 56 will be closed for an undetermined amount of time while police continue to investigate the crash.

The names of those involved have not been released.
