Fort Snelling Army Reserve Group Headed Overseas

FORT SNELLING, Minn. (AP) -- An Army Reserves unit based at Fort Snelling is heading to Afghanistan to support the U.S. military operation in that country.

The 644th Regional Support Group consists of about 25 soldiers. They Army Reserve will recognize those soldiers and their families in a farewell ceremony on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the U.S. Army Reserve Center at Fort Snelling.

The soldiers in the group provide administrative and personnel support. They will be charged with delivering training teams to several military schools in Afghanistan. Those are the Religious and Cultural Affairs School, Bridmal Sergeant Major Academy and the National Military Academy of Afghanistan.
