Big 10 ADs Propose Men’s Hockey For 2013-14

PARK RIDGE, Ill. (AP) — Big Ten athletic directors are proposing a men’s hockey league that would start competition in 2013-14.

The proposal will be sent to the Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellors in June.

The Big Ten hockey league would be made up of Central Collegiate Hockey Association members Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State and Western Collegiate Hockey Association members Minnesota and Wisconsin. Penn State starts its program in 2012.

There would be a 20-game conference schedule. A postseason tournament would determine the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

The athletic directors said in a statement Monday that the Big Ten would work to maintain a strong schedule of non-conference competition with remaining CCHA and WCHA teams.

Where’s all of the college hockey tournaments on national TV like college hoops? How’s everyones brackets doing for the NCAA Hockey Tourney? OH, that’s right, hockey doesn’t make any money or generate any interest outside of Canada and MN.

yes, it’s hard to follow that little black thing that they push around with those sticks… Maybe you should educate us on the complexity of that sport, maybe 10 people will tune in tonight to the game on VS.

I know LOTS of people born and raised in MN, including myself that cannot stand hockey and make fun of it all of the time. It’s kind of funny how everything thinks it’s this great sport, yet you go out of the state and nobody cares about it. Heard recently that the Wild were on NBC and I had some friends down in Fort Myers who said NBC didn’t even carry hockey down there. Not that they were heartbroken over it either. LOL

I guess it was only a matter of time. The Gophers are tired of getting embarrassed by the Sioux.

I will admit it the gophers have had about 3 tough years but, lets remeber how bad the Sioux were year after year

Lets be honest, your sieve goalie sustaining a season ending injury was the best thing to happen for the Golden Gophers this year. And the Sioux still have more National Championship then the Gophers.

JObu has no idea what he is talking about
