DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO/AP) — Police say a Duluth officer shot at a man after he allegedly grabbed at an officer’s weapon, outside a home near the Lake Superior Zoo.

Duluth police say another officer tried to help after the man went for the officer’s gun but was physically assaulted by the suspect and taken to a hospital with minor injuries. She fired one round after being knocked to the ground, according to police.

Reports say the man was also taken to the hospital but it’s unclear if he was shot.

Police were called just before 2 p.m. on a report that a resident of a group home in West Duluth had assaulted a staff member. When officers arrived, they saw a fire inside the group home and the male resident outside.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will help investigate.

Way to have no information on this story WCCO.
Someone maybe was shot at or might have been shot. We do not know who, where, when, or why this might or might not have happened and are still looking into any specifics to if a shot was fired in the first place. We will update information as it slowly crawls to us as it is too hard to do any reporting of our own. We just thought you should know this breaking news.

Is why I had to leave my joblast Dec with the severly mentally ill in a group home. 4 males, two of them three times my size and I was the only female staff working. This is actually a much MUCH bigger story, most of it is never heard because as staff we sign contracts that we cannot press charges against the mentally ill. Yet, when your life, or safety is in danger, it’s the staff that have to leave because we do not bring the Social Security money that they run on. It’s sick. The pay is almost as bad as the fear! ~This was just my experience. Some are good and others are not. Some of these very unstable people have free time out in the community alone. I would NEVER want my children to come across some of them at the park. The question is….. Would YOU??

The ignorance of the people in this city makes me sick. What ever the problem is a gun is not the solution. First a teen gets shot dead while holding a baseball bat…..Bat v. gun who wins? Next a guy with a known TBI get shot or doesn’t get shot who the heck are you going to believe. You or them? This city is corrupt and the cops are worse then the so called criminals. Having a TBI Traumatic Brain Injury doesn’t make you a criminal. This city including the cops enjoy their power and they use labels to define what they truly DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!!!! I wonder how the police will treat one of their own who recently was in a work accident and now has a TBI. They will honor him as a saint because he is a cop. The woman who shot the disabled guy is trigger happy and has no concern for the disabled as far as I am concerned. I better watch out or I will be next!!!!!!
