Duluth Police Officer Involved In Shooting

DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO/AP) -- Police say a Duluth officer shot at a man after he allegedly grabbed at an officer's weapon, outside a home near the Lake Superior Zoo.

Duluth police say another officer tried to help after the man went for the officer's gun but was physically assaulted by the suspect and taken to a hospital with minor injuries. She fired one round after being knocked to the ground, according to police.

Reports say the man was also taken to the hospital but it's unclear if he was shot.

Police were called just before 2 p.m. on a report that a resident of a group home in West Duluth had assaulted a staff member. When officers arrived, they saw a fire inside the group home and the male resident outside.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will help investigate.
