Weather Blog: Oh Boy

By Chris Shaffer, WCCO-TV

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- This was a great song from Buddy Holly, and sadly it is the expression that comes to mind when I look at our next storm system.

The rain will arrive early Tuesday and for southern Minnesota and it looks like an all-day soaker. The temps will stay mild enough to keep it rain in the Twin Cities.

However, it will be a different story over northern Minnesota where you have a Winter Storm Warning and a Blizzard Warning near Duluth. You will have snow (and lots of it). Some estimates are in the 12-18 inch range. Throw in a strong wind from the north east at 15-25 mph, and you have some difficult driving conditions.

Be careful! The cold air will overtake the Twin Cities heading into Wednesday, which will change our rain to snow. We could see a few wet, sloppy inches accumulate on Wednesday. That snow could stick around for a few days with highs only in the 30s through the weekend.
