Weather Blog: Cool Sunshine

By Ron Trenda, WCCO-TV

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Our average high temperature in the Twin Cities is now 46 degrees, but we'll top out in the lower 30s this weekend.

You can thank a cold high pressure system parked to our north, plus our snow cover, for the colder-than-normal temperatures.

The cold weather has slowed our snow melt, allowing forecasters to lower the projected crests at many spots along our major rivers. However, flooding is still expected at many spots, and some spots may see a second crest when temperatures warm up and spring rains develop.

In the meantime, I hope you can enjoy the cool sunshine this weekend.
