More Vehicle Break-Ins In St. Paul, Police Caution Drivers

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- St. Paul Police are encouraging drivers to take simple steps to avoid having their valuables stolen from their parked cars.

In response to a slight increase in theft-from-auto reports in the city's downtown area, police are placing fliers on the windshields of vehicles parked in the Central District. The fliers remind drivers to be careful with their valuables and not to leave them if possible.

There have been 61 theft-from-auto reports in the last three months, according to police.

Police say thieves have stolen laptops, briefcases, backpacks, iPods, wallets, purses and cameras. In every case, the stolen items were inside the vehicles in plain sight.
