High-End Retailers Are Coming To Mall Of America

By Edgar Linares, NewsRadio 830 WCCO

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- Some new high-end retailers will soon call the Mall of America home.

The stores include Michael Kors, Stuart Weitzman, Armani AX, Naartjie Kids and Bettie Page.

"There are about 10 new retailers with more on the way," said Dan Jasper, Mall of America spokesman. "Several of them are high-end and they'll be going to our South Avenue side, which was redecorated last year."

South Avenue was remodeled with white marble and chandeliers. This year the mall plans to remodel the East Broadway side that stretches from Bloomingdales to Sears. Jasper says the remodel will cost several million dollars.

"It will have an urban loft SoHo feel," said Jasper.

The mall also plans to open a Sky Deck Sports Grille and Lanes on the fourth floor.

"There will be bowling but there's going to be a lot of neat aspects to it," said Jasper. "Including cutting edge video games, some great high definition sports viewing and of course, great food to eat."

Most of the stores are under construction and will open over the coming weeks.
