WELCH, Minn. (AP) — An autopsy shows the skier who crashed into a chair lift tower post at Welch Village Ski Area in southeastern Minnesota died of a heart attack.
A forensic pathologist made the determination in the death of 65-year-old George Conway of La Crescent.
The Winona Daily News says Welch Village staffers, sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders came to Conway’s aid, but he died at the scene March 16.
It was Minnesota’s second ski death of the year. Last month, 12-year-old Trent Stellrecht of Grantsburg, Wis., died when he ran into a tree line on a run at Duluth’s Spirit Mountain.
