ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann has kept up the torrid fundraising pace she had last year by raising $2.2 million in the first three months of 2011.

The Republican lawmaker hasn’t decided what office she’ll seek in 2012, but she’s making noise about a possible run for president. Her congressional campaign committee took in $1.7 million between January and March, her chief of staff Andy Parrish said Friday.

Another $500,000 came into a political action committee Bachmann uses to aid other GOP candidates.

Some of the money she’s raising now could help finance a presidential campaign. Bachmann won her third term in 2010 after raising more than $13 million for the race, the most of any congressional candidate in the country.

what a waste of money there is no possible way she could ever win

    waste waste waste

    1. CEKapphahn says:

She is so stupid- Who would donate anything to this disfunctional person.

    2. Republican Politics ... says:

We are lucky we didn’t end up with Tom Emmer (Scott Walker’s big brother) and the Republican House and Senate. Imagine how ugly it would be then.

Who made the decision to let both Pawlenty and Bachmann (Ken and Barbie) loose on the campaign trail? What’s that all about?

You laugh but it’s a new Republican recipe … stir up the base and don’t care about how it turns out.

  3. Tom says:

Big Whoop! Who Cares! apparently there are some “nuts” out there who think that she has a chance at the White House. But she will probably still win the 6th district since the intelligence level of her voters is not real high.

    1. solly says:

Her district constituents are Minnesota’s equivalents of southern rednecks.

  4. Neil says:

has she done anything for her district or the state of minnesota since she got re-elected ? NO , the only thing she has done is fly around the country and stick her mug in front of any camera she can and be a complete embarrassment every time she opens her mouth. stop running for prez you will never win and get back to work for minnesota. better yet just quit so we can get someone with half a brain to do your job.

  5. FreddieBaby says:

For someone who is into bucking the system like she is, she sure knows how to play the game, doesn’t she? I thought she was against big gummint and everything it stood for, but pulling in over $2 million in political contributions in three months makes her nothing more than a big phony.

  6. Common Sense says:

I think I would ask for a refund.

  7. shirley says:

Isn’t it a shame that it’s about the money & not the brains ?

  8. asilto says:

who in the f is giving this lunatic money?

    1. Katie says:

Choose from the several big corporations in the metro area. They have been and still are lining her little black purse. And now that they have carte blanc to contribute to political campaings, she’s not done yet with gathering up the money. I just wish she’d gather up some smarts, too.

      1. Citizen says:

Enjoy your posts, Katie. I believe it was Mammy in Gone with the Wind who said, “You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear!” Bachmann is an attractive candidate because she is controllable by her backers and promoters. She will do what she’s told to do. Sad, that her constituents essentially have NO representation in Congress. But that’s what they voted for. No sympathy here.

  9. CEKapphahn says:

This is why we need more money for education becasue she does not know one state from another or the history of each of these states. How do we in Minnesota get this person out of the state. May she should move to Wis.

    1. ericstor says:

Remember when Obama said I have campaigned in 57 states with I believe one more to go??

      1. Katie says:

ericstor, yeah, Obama goofed big time then. But this article is NOT about him. You can’t stay on topic very well, can you? LOL Michelle makes gaffs so often that Obama would have to be president until he’s a hundred years old to catch up with her.

The liberal mental pathology, besides being uncommonly arrogant, is decidedly dumb—even brutish. It is an immature, collectivist, lock-step mentality that thrives on “group-think,” peer pressure, and group acclamation. It is decidedly narcissistic, immature—and dangerous. -Jim O’Neill

    1. v says:

Perhaps, but at least we know things like… oh…. American History.
Maybe she should switch sides and soak up a little knowledge.
On second thought…. keep her. She’s hilarious.
Pawlenty, Gingrich, Trump, Palin, Bachman. Wow! Talk about your Not-Ready-For-Prime-Time Players! I wish I was a comic. Easy money!

      1. hmmm says:

v, Really?! Enlighten us with your intellect and vast warehouse of knowledge.
Give us an example of “things”. We all know “things”.

        1. Tom says:

Lets see first she said that $108 Billion dollars was snuck into the health care that she did not know about even though they debated for about 2 years so I guess she was out to lunch (mentally) when that was going on.

When she was in New Hampshire she made a comment about the Rev War that was totally wrong.

        2. Katie says:

hmmm, take a lesson in reading comprehension. V said: American History. Perhaps reading thoroughly is a trait you should try to cultivate. Otherwise you just look — well, — dumb!

    2. Mike says:

Outside a group influence, you managed to perfectly define Republican Donald Trump.

    3. Sam says:

I’ll accept that liberals could be seen as immature.
Brutish, collectivist, and lock-step? You mean like saying “If you don’t agree with the current regime, we need to investigate you for anti-American opinions?”
Perhaps by group-think and peer pressure you’re talking about a group that sends out cards that tells citizens how to vote along the party line. Or a group that ousts any politician that doesn’t vote along that same party line.
Arrogance? Dangerous? You mean like people who cannot comprehend that their religious and social beliefs might be wrong? Who would presume to push a particular flavor of Christianity down the throats of their constituents? Who would actively re-write schoolbooks so that children would be exposed to an alternate “history” that eschews facts for ideals?
Is that what you’re talking about Jim?
Because I’ve seen all of this and more on the conservative side of things in the past decade, and it only gets more extreme with every passing year.

      1. w says:

“You mean like people who cannot comprehend that their religious and social beliefs might be wrong? Who would presume to push a particular flavor of Christianity down the throats of their constituents?” Like the environmental movement. It is a religion now isn’t it?

“Who would actively re-write schoolbooks so that children would be exposed to an alternate “history” that eschews facts for ideals?” Are you referring to the academics that write the history books? How about Hollyweird and the media elite that control the message?

“Perhaps by group-think and peer pressure you’re talking about a group that sends out cards that tells citizens how to vote along the party line. Or a group that ousts any politician that doesn’t vote along that same party line.” Like the unions? Especially the public employee unions?

“Because I’ve seen all of this and more on the conservative side of things in the past decade, and it only gets more extreme with every passing year.” And the liberals aren’t extreme? Just this passive group of quiet lttle church mice?

    4. Katie says:

Jim, the same can be said about Republicans. And has been said. Do you have anything new? LOL

  11. M says:

What do her wins say about the intelligence of the dfl & the opponents who have run against her? Maybe a little respect for voters would be wise, along with some introspection & moderation of positions…..naw, just keep mouthing off and losing.

    1. v says:

      Respect for voters?
      Are you kidding?
37% of the population can’t name the Vice President.
67% don’t know where Libya is.

      Yeah… the voters demand respect.

      1. jowsers says:

67% of your household don’t know where libya is

  12. justathought says:

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and
good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America.
Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool.
It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

    1. v says:

You accidentally and repeatedly spelled BUSH wrong.

      1. A King St. Paul MN says:

        NIce one V.
Michelle Bachmann is a MORON. “Sarah Junior” should be tarred and feathered along with the dumba$$e$ who keep re-electing her. I can’t figure out what these supporters see in her, so sad that they keep donating to her campaign. I guess when you line the pockets of your rich friends, and buy your votes anyone can be elected. So sad…

    2. mike says:

      Thank you, justathought

      1. justathought says:

        You’re very welcome Mike.

  13. Happy Hiker says:

    Hey Michelle,

I thought we voted for someone to look out for Minnesota, apparently you are in it for yourself. Ohh well, the greed portrayed in this life will be measured ten fold in your next journey. That goes for all politicians, wallstreet honchos and crooked business men and women around the world. Enjoy your life now…. at least I can go to sleep with a clear consious.

  14. IronDioPriest says:

I love how Leftists wail and gnash their teeth over the advance of conservatives who are “supposed” to belong to one of their pet victim constituencies. How dare a woman / feminist / Black / homosexual / Hispanic / etc, be anything other than a dyed-in-the-wool Leftist victim taking their orders from Leftist intelligentsia?

You have absolutely no idea how to deal with people like Bachmann, Palin, Allen West, Herman Cain, Marco Rubio, or any other conservative who throws off the shackles of Leftist groupthink, so you increasingly resort to hate – wailing and gnashing teeth like demons – as your tactic of first resort.

Each and every time Bachmann or any other “off the liberal victim farm” conservative has any success, you people reveal yourselves for exactly who and what you are, and more people turn away from your brand of hate.

    So please, carry on.

  15. w says:

A recent poll liberal voters shows…
37% of the liberal population can’t name the Vice President.
67% of liberals don’t know where Libya is.

    1. vj in mn says:

Can you attach the link for this poll? I haven’t seen or heard of it.

      1. w says:

ask v. I just added some levity to a poll that v provided that is probably bogus.
v, ??? would you care to share the link to poll with the rest of us?

  16. BUZZCUT says:

This is what is wrong about poltics…2.2 million in three months.

When you raise that amount funds, you answer to your donors not the voters of yourr district. Never ever vote for the person whom raises the most money. Get $ out of politics by not voting by for the Bachmans, Demers or Daytons. Then all only then we can an end to this b.s. DVR your TV watching and forward over the politcal ads.

    You can make a difference…

  17. Murph says:

Too many bi polar nincompoops already…but…. if she runs maybe she will not have the same job to come back to.So look at the bright side. Unlike Pawlenty She doesn’t have a court conviction in her closet! So she has a chance, unlike poor Tim!

  18. Get Real says:

Damn those unions for their ability to buy elections…

  19. truth hurts says:

brain dead clueless zombies giving money to a clueless bich

  20. JW says:

@solly – Although many of people in the sixth district voted for Bachmann, many of us did not. Don’t make broad generalizations.

  21. IronDioPriest says:

Interesting. I left a comment a while back questioning the debased and craven smear tactics against Bachmann in these comments, and the comment has been scrubbed.

Yet two comments up, I see a comment from “truth hurts” calling Michele Bachmann supporters “clueless zombies” and calling her a “clueless b**ch”.

And you people at CBS and the extreme Left wonder why Americans are increasingly turning their backs on you in droves. You cannot be reasoned with any longer. You resort to wailing and gnashing of teeth as a first tactic, and your media runs interference for you to make you think you’re “winning”.

It’s not working. Calling people stupid is not working. Calling vast swaths of the American public stupid is not working. All you’re doing is demonstrating the ugliness in your hearts, and it’s evil. Decent people of good conscience distance themselves from evil.

    1. Katie says:

IronDiolPrist, “Decent people of good conscience distance themselves from evil.” And they are called DEMOCRATS!

  22. Jake says:

What a hypocrite, she condemns government spending but is willing to waste, what will be, 10’s of millions of dollars to run an unsuccessful race to DC. President Obama, not Mr. Obama, is sure to be reelected with what the republicans have to offer. Thanks Michele, you always give me a chuckle when I see you in the news.

    1. Katie says:

Jake, Yes, she and Palin give comedians fodder every time they open their mouths. I used to watch Sarah’s speeches whenever I needed my chuckle for the day! Now I listen to Michelle for that.

  23. monica says:

Give money to the poor people who can”t pay their heating bill or find a smart person to run for government. Instead of giving money to one more very embarrassing person to the state of Minnesota

  24. betty says:

Doesn’t this woman spend any time in her home district? Better yet doesn’t she spend any time in the congress hall? Can anyone point to a single piece of legislation she has put forward? All she is doing is running around this country opengin that BIG mouth of her’s and nothing comes out and collecting money. But on the other hand, $2 million ain’t bad but that is hardly pocket change for someone who is thinking of running for president. There are only so many donators out there. I can’t wait for 2012 and the primary season. The only Republician I see viable is Romney but then he has changed his mind on so many positions, he doesn’t know if he is coming or go.

  25. Citizen says:

What’s really appalling is how much press Bachmann gets. Sure would like to see a list of her campaign donors. Her running for President is making George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams spin in their graves! So very sad, so very wrong, so very dangerous to what’s left of our struggling Democracy.

  26. upnorth says:

She leads a group called the Tea Party which was formed around the idea to cut goverment waste. Let them start with all the extra benifits (money) Congress gets vs the commom man first. They should not pass a law that ever excludes themselves as they now do all the time.
