State Patrol IDs 2 Killed In N. Shore Accidents

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The two people who died in separate one-car accidents near the North Shore Friday morning have been identified.

The first crash, reported at 7:32 a.m., happened on Highway 61 and County Road 3, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The driver, Sarah Jaeger, was in a truck and reportedly overshot a T-intersection. She overturned on an embankment and landed in Lake Superior.

Jaeger, 58, of Two Harbors, Minn., died at the scene.

The second crash, which also occurred on Hwy. 61, was reported at 10 a.m.

The state patrol says the driver, Darrin Theis, lost control, ran off the right side of the road down an embankment and a driver-side door area struck a tree. Roads were wet at the time and the patrol said he had lost control of the car before leaving the main road.

Theis, 26, of Duluth, also died at the scene.
