Connecting Families With Loved Ones Serving Overseas

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A generous donation means some Minnesota soldiers will stay in close contact with their families while serving our country.

Chicago-based Operation Homelink gave 150 refurbished computers and webcams away to Minnesota National Guard families.

"It doesn't have to be in a letter and for our son, he can see dad still even though he's not home," said Kate Brossard, who received one of the refurbished computers.

For eight years, the non-profit has taken corporate computers and outfitted them for soldiers' families.

"When I saw a father saying goodbye to his wife and kids, I imagine what it would be like to be in that situation," said Dan Shannon, Operation Homelink president and founder. "And because I've not served myself, I felt an obligation to try and do something, to give a little something back, for the tremendous sacrifices being made not only by those serving on the front line but those serving on the home front as well."

So far, Operation Homelink has donated 3500 refurbished computers.  It's always looking for more companies to help so click on the link below for more information.
