WCCO Radio Among Minn. AP Award Winners
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- KMSP-TV of Eden Prairie and KEYC-TV of Mankato have won Minnesota Associated Press Awards for their coverage of last year's tornado outbreak.
KARE-TV of Golden Valley won first-place awards in feature, sports reporting, writing and newscast as well as best-in-show. KSTP-TV of St. Paul won first place for an investigation into the death of a Minnesota sailor in Iraq and for a report on the closing of a state law loophole that allowed some homeless sex offenders to evade required weekly check-ins.
Minnesota Public Radio won best-in-show for "Fighting Obesity."
Other radio winners include WCCO of Minneapolis; KFGO of Fargo, N.D.; KVSC, KNSI and WJON of St. Cloud; and WTIP of Grand Marais.
KSAX-TV of Alexandria was cited for overall cooperation.
The awards will be presented Friday night in Bloomington.
