Police: Man Sentenced For Swindling $229,000 From School

ST.PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A Woodbury man was sentenced Friday to one year in jail and ordered to pay restitution for swindling $229,000 from Mounds Park Academy.

Jason Clayton Aune, 36, pleaded guilty to four counts of theft by swindle.

Aune was the former director of information technology at Mounds Park Academy and from June 2006 to December 2008 he used a school-issued credit card to purchase items like iPods and MacBook computers, which he wrote off as school expenses and then sold online, a criminal complaint said.

After a year in jail, Aune will be under a 10-year probation, which, if violated, could place Aune in jail for more than four years.
