Sen. Klobuchar: Budget Deal Something Of A Roadmap

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar says the last minute budget deal reached Friday night will serve as something of a road map for an overall budget plan still to be worked out. The action averted a federal government shutdown.

"We have an agreement to cut $38.5 billion in spending. I was very glad we came to this agreement. This was a long week," said Klobuchar before leaving Washington D.C. for Minnesota Saturday morning.

The plan will be voted on mid-week.

"This was just simply a short term thing for this year and the big, big decisions are going to be on that long term, long term budget," explained Klobuchar.

She said the big issue down the line will be the debt ceiling calling it the leverage we need to do something about the growing national debt.
